Above is the Cape Breton Miner used in the 60's to transport coal from Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia to the Toronto area. My father, George Bain, was instrumental in the conception of this ship. I was able to see the construction, attend the christening and sea trials as well as take a family vacation to Cape Breton Island. Below is her sister ship the Ontario Power also used to transport coal. Sadly, they were towed to Taiwan for scrap in the mid 1980's. |
